In order to fully mobilize the learning initiative of international students from foreign countries (hereinafter referred to as “international students”) , and to standardize the scholarship evaluation procedures for international students, the detailed rules are hereby formulated according to the relevant regulations of the state and Jiangsu province and combined with the actual situation of the university.
Chapter I Application requirements
(I) The international students who apply for scholarship must meet the following basic requirements:
1. Abiding by Chinese laws and regulations, abiding by the rules and regulations of the university, and having no illegal or undisciplined behavior.
2. Having correct learning attitude, careful and hardworking, and without absent, late, or early leaving behavior.
3. Having good academic achievements without failed results for the required courses within the academic year.
4. Respecting teachers, uniting students, healthy physically and mentally, and having good interpersonal relationship.
5. Caring about the collective and participating actively in activities in the university.
(II) The international students in one of the following situations within the academic year shall not participate in scholarship review:
1. Failing to pay tuition fees, accommodation fees and other related expenses as required.
2. Failing to handle international student visa, residence, comprehensive insurance and other related procedures as required.
3. Having been given sanction above warning (including warning).
4. Unqualified in various examination and appraisal organized by international student apartment.
5. Having improper behavior, which causes bad social impact on the university or the collective.
Chapter II Conditions for scholarship review
(I) Doctoral graduate students
1. Carrying out carefully academic research, studying assiduously, innovating actively, and having good academic results.
2. Students who have published academic paper of higher quality in domestic and foreign periodicals could apply for first-class scholarship (a copy of the paper and the original of the relevant certificates shall be provided). For the requirements on academic dissertation, please refer to the Measures for the Assessment of Scientific Research Achievements of Doctor Candidates Applying for Doctor’s Degree of Nanjing Tech University (Nan Gong Xiao Yan [2016] No. 7).
3. By the end of the second academic year, if any doctoral International Students have not issued academic paper, the living allowance for them in the third academic year will be executed as per the standard for payment of second-class scholarship and living allowance for doctors (RMB1500/ Month); and if International Students issue academic paper in the third academic year and meet the requirements on the assessment of scientific research achievements for applying for doctor’s degree of the University, the living allowance will be fully supplemented according to the original standard.
(II) Master degree candidates
1. Carrying out carefully academic research, studying hard, innovating actively, and having good academic results.
2. Students who have published academic paper of higher quality in domestic and foreign periodicals could apply for first-class scholarship (a copy of the paper and the original of the relevant certificates shall be provided). For the requirements on academic dissertation, please refer to the Measures for the Assessment of Scientific Research Achievements of Master Candidates Applying for Master’s Degree of Nanjing Tech University (Nan Gong Xiao Yan [2016] No. 4).
3. By the end of the second academic year, if any master Foreign Students have not issued academic paper, the living allowance for them in the third academic year will be executed as per the standard for payment of second-class scholarship and living allowance for masters (RMB600/ Month); and if Foreign Students issue academic paper in the third academic year and meet the requirements on the assessment of scientific research achievements for applying for master’s degree of the University, the living allowance will be fully supplemented according to the original standard.
(III) Undergraduate students
1. Undergraduate scholarships are ranked according to the Grade Point Average (GPA) and comprehensive assessment results of international students of the same grade and the same major, and the grades are assessed according to the corresponding proportion. The top 10% of comprehensive ranking can apply for first-class scholarship.
2. The credit point of a course is the grade point corresponding to the course result multiplied by credit of the course; the total credit point is the sum of credit points earned by a student from the courses in one term (academic year); the average grade point is the total credit points divided by total credits earned.
Total credit points =Σ(grade point of course×credit of course)
Average grade point= total credit point / total credits
The results basis for scholarship review is subject to the first examination result affirmed by Teaching Affairs Department, and the corresponding relationship between review result and grade points shall be converted according to the unified standard of the university.
The average GPA should reach 2.0 or above.
3. For the international students with outstanding performance in various activities such as learning and scientific innovation, recreational and sports activities, HSK examination, bonus points may be awarded appropriately in comprehensive appraisal and the applicant for bonus points shall provide relevant evidentiary materials.
Chapter III Standard of scholarship
Comprehensive scholarship for international students divided into different standards according to educational level. The detail is as follows:

Chapter IV The organization and evaluation of scholarships
(1) The Comprehensive Scholarship for Foreign Students shall be assessed every year. And the scholarship for last year will be assessed within four weeks since the new semester begins.
(2) The students eligible for scholarship appraisal shall complete truly “Comprehensive Scholarship Application Form for Foreign Students of Nanjing Tech University”, and then submit the application form and other application materials to Overseas Education College.
(3) Overseas Education College shall organize international students to apply for scholarship, formulate and publish the detailed rules and procedures for appraisal, draw up a list of award-winning students together with the colleges of relevant specialties in accordance to appraisal criteria, and submit it to Working Leadership Group for international students of the university to evaluation and decision.
Chapter V The issuance and management of scholarship
(1) Comprehensive scholarship shall be awarded in the every academic year monthly.
(2) The scholarship awarding for a graduate shall last until the month when he/she graduates (completes studies). International students shall not enjoy scholarship award in duration of suspension of schooling. If an international student quits the university, scholarship awarding shall be suspended since the quitted month. In principle, during extension of schooling, an international student shall not enjoy scholarship award.
(3) For a student who has already won scholarship award and is in one of the following situations, the university shall revoke his/her award, and ask him/her to return scholarship or stop scholarship awarding since the very month:
1. Having practiced fraud in application materials;
2. Having violated rules and regulations of the university;
3. Having violated national laws and regulations of China;
Chapter VI Supplementary provisions
(1) The detailed rules are applicable to all international students in the university.
(2) The detailed rules shall come into force since the day of issuance.
