Cultivation Plan of Undergraduate Pharmaceutical Sciences Program for International Students

I. Cultivation Goals

1. Cultivation Goals of the Major

The major of pharmaceutical sciences cultivates students to have good ideological quality, cultural quality and scientific quality, and master the basic theory, basic knowledge and basic skills of pharmaceutical sciences; to have a strong sense of innovation and development potential; to be able to engage in drug research and development, drug production and management, drug quality inspection, drug use and management, and pharmaceutical marketing, etc.; in order to become high quality innovative science and technology talents who meet the development needs of the medical and health careers and the cause of higher medical education.

2. Competency Requirements for Graduation

(1) Have humanities and social science literacy, sense of social responsibility and professional ethics;

(2) Have the relevant natural science, economic and management knowledge required to engage in pharmaceutical work;

(3) Have the ability to continuously learn and adapt to development; have basic organizational and management skills, presentation and interpersonal skills and the ability to play a role in a team; have an international perspective and the ability to participate in international exchanges, competition and cooperation;

(4) Have the attitude and awareness of pursuing innovation; the ability of new drug research and development, drug production and management, drug analysis, new drug pharmacological experiments and evaluation;

(5) Master the basic theory, basic knowledge and basic operational skills of pharmacology, pharmaceutical chemistry, drug analysis, pharmaceutics and other related disciplines in the field of pharmaceutical sciences; have accumulated systematic learning experience in pharmaceutical practice; know the current situation and trends of the frontier development of the major of pharmaceutical sciences;

(6) Have the ability to design and implement experiments of pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical analysis and other related specialties, and the ability to analyze and summarize experimental results;

(7) Master the basic methods of literature search, data search and the use of modern information technology to obtain relevant information; and be familiar with the basic knowledge of pharmacy management regulations, policies and marketing;

(8) Have the ability to design systems and processes using a combination of pharmacy theory and process engineering techniques, and to consider economic, environmental, legal, safety, health, ethical and other constraints in the design process;

(9) Understand the guidelines, policies and law and regulations on production, design, research and development, environmental protection and sustainable development of professions and industries related to pharmaceutical sciences, and be able to correctly understand the impact of engineering on the objective world and society;

(10) Understand the laws of change in storage of drugs, and have the ability to undertake the work of drug storage, keeping, maintenance, and disposal of deteriorated drugs;

(11) Have the ability to correctly guide consumers in the drug business enterprises in the rational use of drugs, and to provide scientific, reasonable, objective and reliable advisory services to drug purchasers;

(12) Have basic capability to use pharmacy theory and process engineering technical means; be able to use professional instruments and equipment to control the quality in production processes, scientific material feeding and burdening, and in all aspects of production, analyze and solve quality problems that arise in production, and propose solutions.

IV. Basic Requirements for Graduation and Requirements for Degree Awarding

Basic requirements for graduation:Those who complete all the contents specified in the cultivation plan of the major within the specified period of schooling, acquire the required credits of various courses and the minimum 134 credits required for graduation, and meet the graduation requirements in morality, intelligence and physical fitness, will be allowed to graduate.

Requirements for the awarding of the degree: Graduates of this major who meet the relevant provisions of theDetailed Rules for the Implementation of Awarding the Bachelor's Degree of Nanjing Tech Universitywill be awarded the Bachelor of Science degree.
