董蜀湘教授简介
董蜀湘博士于2008年5月从美国Virginia Tech大学回国加入北京大学工学院材料科学与工程系,受聘为特聘研究员、教授、北京大学终身教授,同时兼任美国Virginia Tech大学兼职教授。董蜀湘于1993年6月获清华大学材料科学博士学位;之后,留校工作,历任清华大学材料系讲师、副教授; 1997-1999年,董蜀湘访问新加坡国立大学;2000年至2008,董蜀湘先后受聘为美国宾州大学、美国弗吉尼亚理工大学任副研究员、研究科学家。
董蜀湘长期从事压电、铁电、磁电功能材料与器件方面的研究,在理论和器件研究方面都颇有建树,如在磁电功能材料的理论研究方面,创立了“磁-弹-电”耦合的等效电路方法,这也是目前国际上公认的三种比较成功的理论方法之一;在压电微马达方面,最早发明了世界上最小的压电微马达,研发出低温驱动器、高温压电马达与高温驱动器,以及研发出具有微纳米分辨率的系列直线压电马达;部分成果已在厦门实现了产业化;在磁电复合材料研究领域,发现了最强的磁-电耦合复合材料、发现磁电复合材料的超高磁场灵敏度、发现磁电材料的电压增益效应和电流-电压转换效应;在压电换能器方面,发现谐振声场扰动的目标定位方法、声谐振腔的氢气检测方法等。在重要国际SCI收录刊物上共发表文章130余篇(其中在Applied Physics Letters发表了40余篇)。文章SCI总引用次数5000余次;拥有30余项授权美国和中国发明专利。董蜀湘还在多个重要国际、国内会议上和多所国内外大学做特邀报告40余次,也是多个国际刊物的审稿人。

荣誉:
1, 入选Elsevier 2014和2015年中国高被引学者(Most Cited Chinese Researchers),入选者被认为是最具世界影响力的中国学者。
2,发明的1.5毫米直径压电微马达项目曾获美国宾州州立大学MRL 2000年材料科学进步一等奖。


Progress in magnetoelectric devices based on ferroelectric/ferromagnetic composites

Magnetoelectric (ME) effect is a magnetic field-to-electric field interaction coupling via elastic strain mediated in layered ferroelectric and ferromagnetic multiferroic heterostructure composite materials. The coexistence of electric polarization and magnetization in multiferroic materials provides great opportunities for building various magnetoelectric devices. Currently, the strongest ME coupling effect is observed from ferroelectric and ferromagnetic composites is piezoelectric/piezomagnetic layered laminates. This presentation reviews current progress in ME devices based on piezoelectric/piezomagnetic laminated composites. ME devices are mainly utilized as high-sensitivity magnetic sensors, current sensors, transformers and gyrators, microwave devices, tunable inductors and filters, energy harvesters, ME actuators, and ME memories, et al. Especially, we will introduce our recent progress on magnetoelectric magnetic sensors with sub-picoTesla sensitivity and their sensors array for magnetic metal object imaging, which is believed in a safe method to human body. The working principle and properties of ME sensors and array are introduced, and their future development are also discussed in this review paper.

Biography:
Shuxiang Dong is Professor of Materials Science & Engineering at College of Engineering, Peking University, China. Professor Dong holds MSc and PhD degrees from Tsinghua University, China. Dr. Dong was a research associate at Materials Research Laboratory, Pennsylvania State University, State College, PA, from Jan., 2000 - Dec., 2001, and a research scientist and research professor at Materials Science & Engineering, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, from Jan., 2002 – May, 2008. Professor Dong’s research focuses on piezoelectric ceramics and magnetoelectric composite materials, piezoelectric actuators and micromotors, magnetic sensors, smart electronic devices, and their applications. He has authored over 130 peer-reviewed papers and over 30 patents. Prof. Dong was chosen as 2014 and 2015 Most Cited Chinese Researchers, these people were regarded as the most influential scientists in the world by Elsevier.
