President and Academician Huang Wei visited the University of Queensland which is ranked in the world's top 50 and is one of Australia's leading research and teaching institutions on October 29thand met with Professor Peter Høj, Vice-Chancellor and President and Professor G.Q. Max Lu, Provost and Senior Vice-President. Both sides held in-depth discussions on the governance and vision of modern universities and signed strategic agreement of collaboration after reaching consensus in research collaboration, talent cultivation and joint educational programs.
During the meeting, President Huang introduced NanjingTech vision, blueprint and latest development. Nanjing Tech University, with a history of more than one hundred years, became one of the first batch of "2011 Plan" universities and changed its English name to NanjingTech in 2013. NanjingTech has established the strategic goal of building a "Comprehensive, Research-oriented and Globalized" university ever since and will focus on physical sciences representative of fundamental disciplines, biotechnological sciences representative of frontier disciplines, information sciences representative of applied disciplines and management sciences representative of humanity disciplines. Globalization is the key component of NanjingTech development and is the necessary way that leads to first-class universities. NanjingTech will endeavor to promote collaboration with world top universities such as the University of Queensland for leaping development.
