British Institution of Chemical Engineers Visits NJUT
Back

At the invitation of President OUYANG Pingkai, Prof. Robin Batterham (President of IChemE,Chief Scientific Adviser of Australia, member of ICCA), professor Trevor Evans (CEO of IChemE, Prof. Colin Grant(Chairman of IChemE), Prof. David Wood (tenure and former director of Department of Chemical Engineering of the University of Melbourne ), and Prof. Yan Tsaur(vice-president of Degussa China ) visited the Jiangpu campus of NJUT on April 2.

IChemE, a non-government organization with its headquarters in Britain, focused on the authentication of chemical engineers throughout the world and kinds of chemical conferences, and at the same time published chemical periodicals, such as Chemical Engineering Research & Design, Process Safety & Environmental Protection, Food & Bioproducts Processing.

The aim of IChemE officers' visit to China was to consult relevant matters of some of Chinese chemical engineering majors' enrollment to IChemE and to survey the first members from China, i.e. Tianjin University, Tsinghua University and NJUT. They listened to the introduction of the three universities' chemical engineering and the detailed courses, and visited these universities.

They visited Jiangpu campus and the base of the National Engineering Research Center for Biotechnology, attended the reports from the College of Chemical Engineering and the College of Bioengineering. They were struck with the ecological and digital new campus, the development of high-level disciplines and those highly qualified students.

Prof. Robin Batterham believed that the development of NJUT's chemical engineering and bioengineering was taking the lead currently in China, and the cooperation with IChemE would drive internationalization of the chemical engineering of NJUT, guide its students to get jobs in the world and enable the world to understand China better.
